TRIUMPH AND TRADEGY
On Saturday 14th June the club attended a Judo Competition in Maldon at the Blackwater Lesuire Centre, Mersea had 19 competitors taking part, everyone did superbly, but a special mention must go to Luke Powling who performed very well. Results;2nd Bronze-Megan Butcher, Thomas Daines, Bryony Humm, Adam Porter. Bronze-Matthew Capon, Amelia Smith, Tom Paramore, Rosie Daines. Silver-Craig Bunyan, Jack Hiller, Sam Parsons, Matthew Riley, Oliver Young, Amelia Young. Gold-Luke Bunyan, Edward Lee, Jake Munson, Luke Powling, Josh Whiting.
This is the hardest judo report I have ever written, a little 7yr old girl whom I had refereed earlier in the day went swimming in the pool after winning a silver medal and tragically lost her life, being a parent myself I cannot imagine what her family must be feeling, I remember her well because her Coach presented her trophy, referring to her as Michelle ‘attitude’ Gellard, she was a spirited, feisty and determined little girl. On Thursday 19th June the club observed a 1 minutes silence in memory of Michelle.
